Palm Lake Resort Bargara set to become operator’s largest community

1 min read

The Elliott family-owned operator has secured approval for a major expansion of its Palm Lake Resort Bargara, paving the way for the coastal lifestyle resort to become the largest in its national portfolio.

Bundaberg Regional Council granted the amendment on 15 September 2025, allowing for an extra 138 home sites, four pickleball courts and a new recreation centre.

Palm Lake first received approval for Palm Lake Resort Bargara in 2013. Since then, the land lease community has grown to more than 516 homes. In May 2023, the Council backed an extension of 117 homes, but following the acquisition of adjoining land, Palm Lake applied for a larger expansion.

Founded by Walter Elliott, Palm Lake Resorts now operates more than 30 land lease communities nationally. The expansion at Bargara cements its place as the group’s largest project to date.

Only one home is currently available at the resort – a two-bedroom plus study design priced at $670,000 – with a further eight homes already under offer.

Works on the newly approved extension are expected to commence next year.
