the Property Council is arguing that retirement villages provide a highly cost efficient hub for delivery of in-home care and health services, alleviating housing supply pressures for younger families and reducing hospital and aged care costs.
Solutions put forward include working with the industry on a national senior strategy to lift supply of affordable housing to facilitate downsizing, review the tax treatment of retirement villages and review the age pension income test rules in the finance of downsizing.
