Last Thursday evening, 71% of 316 members present voted for Forestville RSL Club, 12km north of Sydney’s CBD, to proceed with “Garraway” after being notified on 18 November 2025 of a Special General Meeting.

16 of the independent living units, described as a “boutique retirement community”, would be housed on two floors above the new single-level clubhouse.
The other two- and three-bedroom units would be spread across three new neighbouring apartment blocks. Several units would be provided for people living with a disability.
In addition, as per the agenda, the projected development cost has risen to $108 million, up from the original $79 million as described in the development application.

In a statement released after the Thursday night vote, Forestville RSL Club Chief Executive Ian Thomson said the result highlighted the collective commitment of members to ensuring the club remained a “successful, vibrant and thriving hub for generations to come”.
“The redevelopment plan is designed to enhance the club’s facilities and services, aligning with our vision to provide an exceptional experience for our members and visitors.
“By investing in the redevelopment, the club aims to meet both current and future needs while creating a lasting legacy.”
