Charles Moore, CEO of the Not For Profit operator which supports over 24,000 people across more than 100 locations, said it intends to start building Carlingford Seniors Living Village next year with completion within three years.

The $190 million project for approximately 130 independent living units for retirees, 96 aged care rooms and a respite facility was approved by the NSW Government, as reported exclusively by The Weekly SOURCE last Tuesday.

“The Aged Care Taskforce recommendations have made new aged care developments, like Carlingford Seniors Village, more viable,” said Charles.

“Creating seniors specific housing, independent and supported, is an essential part of the wider conversation about housing pressures in our community and what people-first solutions look like.”

The design of the Carlingford Seniors Village will include BaptistCare’s innovative household model, mirroring a home-like environment for residents in aged care and a vibrant community for residents who live independently. The Village will sit next to BaptistCare Gimbawali Place, social and affordable apartments for seniors and single-parent families, which was completed in 2023. There will be shared green spaces, outdoor seating and a café for the wider community to enjoy also.

David Cowdrey, BaptistCare General Manager of Property, said it is currently proceeding with new independent living units in Elderslie, Wagga Wagga and Dubbo, and will soon complete a new 96-bed Residential Ages Care Facility in Elderslie.

"Upcoming plans include Carlingford, new community facilities in Wagga Wagga and additional independent living units in the NSW Far North Coast. In the planning phase, the progress of the BaptistCare Macquarie Park Masterplan will continue through the assessment process," David said.
