Opal HealthCare to start construction on co-located Clayfield Terrace Care Community, Brisbane

1 min read

Though Australia's largest aged care provider is assessing the impact of the recent AN-ACC price adjustment on its development pipeline, it has announced it will begin construction on the 133-bed aged care home adjacent to Aveo's Clayfield Retirement Village, next year.

The home has been in planning since at least 2021.

“Opal HealthCare is in the early stages of planning for the construction of Clayfield Terrace Care Community in Brisbane," an Opal HealthCare spokesperson told The Weekly SOURCE.

“It will accommodate 133 residents in an exceptional building, custom-designed to support socialisation, connection and meaningful life, underpinned by high-quality care for older Australians."

Other co-located homes set to open

Opal HealthCare, which has 142 aged care homes, also plans to open two new aged care homes co-located within retirement villages within the next six months.

Epping Grand Care Community, a 132-bed aged care home 18km north west of the Sydney CBD, will welcome its first residents on 1 November. The care community is part of an intergenerational precinct also including Levande's The Cambridge, a church, and primary school.

In Melbourne, newly redeveloped and expanded 128-bed Croydon Grove Care Community is set to open in February 2026. It is co-located with Aveo's Mingarra Retirement Living.

“All three Care Communities are co-located with retirement living, to ensure more older Australians can continue to live in their local community with all the care and services they need at hand as they age," the spokesperson said.

“We are currently analysing the impact of the AN-ACC adjustments on our development pipeline.”
