UnitingCare Queensland returns to retirement village development after 12 years

1 min read

UnitingCare Queensland has unveiled plans for its first new retirement village in over a decade, with Stage One of Bokarina Beach Village on the Sunshine Coast set to deliver 28 freestanding three-bedroom homes under its BlueCare brand.

Located in Wurtulla, on the site’s south-eastern corner, the new community will give residents a coastal lifestyle with access to beaches, lakes, parklands, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and nearby shopping and dining precincts.

BlueCare Retirement Living General Manager Natalie Smith said Bokarina Beach Village responds to strong local demand for high-quality retirement living in prime locations. She added that it was around 12 years since the operator last built a retirement village.

Future stages of the project will see four apartment buildings added, offering a mix of two- and three-bedroom units. On completion, the village will feature 267 homes in total – 28 freestanding houses and 239 apartments – supported by shared community facilities.

Construction of Stage One is expected to commence in early 2026, with first homes scheduled for completion in mid-2027. The full build-out is anticipated by 2033.

BlueCare currently operates seven retirement villages across Queensland.
