VIC Govt’s $1.1M per bed home on track for completion in 2025

Last week, Jaclyn Symes, State Member for Northern Victoria, visited construction of the $57 million Rutherglen Aged Care Facility, located in Rutherglen, 300km north of Melbourne, saying the home is on track for completion in 2025.

The first sod was turned on the facility in August last year.

The 50-bed facility will replace the existing 40-bed Glenview Community Care Nursing Home and will feature modern single rooms with ensuites, dementia-friendly design, a community room, cinema, hair salon, barbecue area, and courtyard.

The aged care home is part of the Labor Government’s Regional and Rural Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy to modernise ageing facilities across the state. In 2023/24, the Victorian Budget allocated $162 million to deliver three public sector aged care homes in Victoria, on top of the almost $700 million that had already been invested since 2016.

The builder is Zaunder Construction, with architecture by ClarkeHopkinsClarke. The home will be operated by Indigo Health North.

"Rutherglen Aged Care Facility will provide a safe and comfortable place for residents to call home, as well as a modern and efficient working environment for staff," said Jaclyn.
