Platino Properties’ $190M bid to add 317 units to Frenchs Forest Over 55s development Jardin

2 min read

A Concept and Stage 1 development application for a mixed use seniors housing development comprising of approximately 317 independent living units and a residential aged care facility for the Northern Beaches suburb, 15km from Sydney's CBD, has been put on exhibition.

Platino Properties sold out the six-storey Jardin, its first over 55s strata titled development at 7 Skyline Place, before the building was finished.

Launched in October 2020, Jardin had 55 one-, two- and three-bedroom luxury apartments and penthouses priced from $680,000 for a one-bedroom, $1.1 million for two-bedrooms, $1.35 million for three-bedrooms and $1.7 million for a penthouse.

Its success convinced George Revey, Founder and CEO of Platino Properties, that there was a market for people over the age of 55 who didn’t want to move into a retirement village and pay exit fees, but were interested in having access to more services.

The second stage of Jardin (5 Skyline Place), which needed the backing of the NSW Land and Environment Court, will consist of two new six- and eight-storey buildings, Eucalyptus and Wattle, which will be connected to Stage 1 and the original Acacia and Banksia buildings by a central outdoor landscaped garden called ‘Le Jardin’ (The Garden).

Stage One of the second stage has already sold out and Stage Two is now selling. There will be a total of 98 apartments, ranging from one- to three-bedroom layouts.

Platino Properties has also put part of a staged development of 1 and 3 Skyline Place, which has an area of 2.26ha, on exhibition.

No. 3 Skyline Place is the subject of a concept development application with the Stage 1 DA showing three buildings, varying in height from eight to 14 storeys (Northern Beaches Hospital is nine storeys and the highest building in Frenchs Forest), housing 200 large independent living units and a 20-suite residential aged care facility (RACF).

The design report by Smith & Tzannes shows the proposal is to integrate the new buildings seamlessly with the existing Jardin developments and the RACF will cater to the needs of residents as they age, supporting both current and future occupants of Skyline Place.

Platino Properties is now selling its other development Bellevue, which offers 36 one-, two- and three-bedroom units, in Greenwich, 7km northwest of Sydney's CBD.

In April 2023, The Weekly SOURCE reported one-bedroom units were priced from $1 million, two-bedrooms from $1.71 million and three-bedrooms from $1.895 million. The building will be ready for occupation later this year, the company states.
