1 min read

The Victorian Government has finished construction on its largest ever public residential aged care facility – the $139.6 million Boollam Boollan Aged Care Centre in Heatherton, 19km southeast of Melbourne's CBD.

Located within Monash Health’s integrated health hub at the Kingston Centre, the 145-bed home will welcome residents from next month and be operated by Victorian public health service, Monash Health.

The four-storey home, formerly called Kingston Centre Residential Aged Care Facility, features 150 single rooms with ensuites, and will offer a range of integrated healthcare supports, including dementia and memory services, clinics for falls and balance, and age-appropriate mental health services.

Victoria's Minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt (pictured right meeting staff and future residents, appears far left) said, "Victoria is home to Australia’s largest public aged care sector, and with Boollam Boollam Aged Care Centre we’re delivering even more modern, high-quality homes that meet the needs of older Victorians close to home.”

The Victorian Government is investing $34.6 million in 2025-26 in aged care services, plus a further $7.5 million for continued upgrades of homes in what is Australia’s largest network of public aged care.

The state funds 159 public sector residential aged care services throughout Victoria.
