EY’s aged care contracts surpass $22M

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has extended its contract with EY to deliver the Aged Care Business and Workforce Advisory Service by another 12 months.

The three-year deal – originally awarded in 2023 for $5.6 million – has now been extended four times this year, taking its total value to $17.1 million.

The program, which provides free business advice and assistance to aged care providers, is now worth close to $20,000 a day to EY.

The service was initially delivered by PwC, but its contract was terminated after the firm became embroiled in an international tax advice scandal, with EY stepping in as the replacement provider.

In total, Federal Government contracts with EY related to aged care are now worth more than $22 million over three years.

12 months ago, the Department awarded EY a $620,000 contract to assess the “digital maturity” of the residential aged care sector. The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority has also engaged EY on Support at Home costing studies under contracts worth more than $5 million.
