Sage advice: Judy Martin shares insights from 17 years of seniors’ care tours on podcast

After leading 45 aged care educational tours in 15 countries, what has Judy Martin, Executive Lead of SAGE Study Tours, learnt about how people innovate and care for older populations?

“The aim of the study tours is to evaluate care for seniors from a global perspective,” said Judy, who is also a Specialist Advisor at Anchor Excellence.

“We are taking provider organisations, the people providing care or solutions, and looking at it from a global perspective within government policy frameworks.”

Judy said providers often see new ideas on the tour and initially think them impossible to implement in Australia.

“But we get back on the bus or we go out for dinner and discuss it and they think, ‘Actually, we can do that. We’ve just never thought about it because we immediately put up the roadblocks to why we can’t do differing models.’

“I think that has been one of the best outcomes of the programs that I’ve seen over the years.”
