Accenture awarded extension on $4M contract for My Aged Care training

1 min read

The local arm of the global professional services company specialising in information technology services, has been awarded a $265,000 extension on its contract with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing for My Aged Care training, taking the total value of the contract to nearly $4 million.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DOHDAC), told The Weekly Source, Accenture was originally awarded the contract in 2022. The June 2025 variation is the fifth time the contract has been extended, and is to help design and deliver training and project management support, the DOHDAC said.

Accenture, where Peter Burns is CEO Australia and New Zealand, is a significant beneficiary of Government contracts, including the Department of Health and Aged Care's $289.4 million contract for staff to help implement the digital systems for the incoming aged care reforms.

My Aged Care, the entry point to the aged care system in Australia, has been the subject of concern over the last 18 months.

In April 2024, the Acting Inspector-General of Aged Care Ian Yates AM launched a review of My Aged Care to determine if the portal provides older Australians with access aged care services in a timely manner. The results of the review are expected to be released in October. The Department of Health and Aged Care's 2023-24 Annual Report showed only 56% of surveyed users said they were satisfied with My Aged Care, which is below target. A Government review of the Care Finder Program found My Aged Care was found to have gaps in information and inaccuracies about service availability. And media reports have identified My Aged Care as a "minefield of mistakes".
