BaptistCare at home opens social hub in Orange

1 min read

BaptistCare has opened a new Home Care site in the regional NSW town of Orange, providing an administration hub for the provider’s growing care team and a social club for over 65s care recipients.

The site is located on Summer Street in Orange, about 250km west of Sydney. It will offer programs and activities that promote physical movement, social contact, and cognitive engagement for people cared for at home.

The centre will also provide an opportunity for carers to receive respite from their caring roles.

“Providing social contact and stimulating activities for our clients in the region is vital for BaptistCare to continue providing the best quality care, and to continue improving the sector for future ageing Australians in regional areas,” BaptistCare at home General Manager Sarah Newman said.

“We’re excited about the expansion of BaptistCare’s Home Care services in Orange, and are rapidly adding allied health, care management, clinical and direct care workers to our team,” she said.

A BastistCare spokesperson told The SOURCE they now have 17 social clubs (day respite) and two overnight respite cottages across NSW and the ACT. Some sites have a bus that collects clients and drops them home after the respite day.

The SOURCE: Social isolation is a real risk in the shift towards a home-care based aged care system. Social hubs in local communities are an excellent way to complement home care services and mitigate the risks, and provide respite for carers.
