Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains to exit home care

1 min read

Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains (CCWSBM), which has operated as a Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) provider for 30 years, has revealed plans to exit home care as increasing regulation and impending reforms make delivery of the service increasingly difficult.

“It is with great sadness, that at this time, CCWSBM has had to make the difficult decision to withdraw from the CHSP," a spokesperson of Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains told The SOURCE.

"As the majority of Catholic Care’s funding comes from the government, we have had to work within those constraints which are becoming more challenging including aged care reforms, increasing compliance requirements and access to aged care clinical expertise.

“After exhausting all other options, we have made the tough decision to withdraw from this service."

CCWSBM's 150 CHSP clients will be transitioned to a new provider.

"We understand the importance of continuity of support and services each of our clients requires," the spokesperson said.

The Government is planning to transition the CHSP to Support at Home from 2027.
