Stand-alone Sydney aged care home lodges State Significant Development Application
The Pembroke-family owned Homewood Care aged care facility in Bexley, 14km southwest of Sydney’s CBD, wants to expand its site.
A NSW Government State Significant Development Application has been lodged with a Scoping Report by Planning Ingenuity for the construction of a part two- part three-storey residential care facility with direct integration with the exisiting facility.
The new building will have 54 rooms with private ensuites.
The existing Homewood Care aged care home currently has 125 licensed beds in two, two-storey buildings operating since 1970. If the development application is approved, there will be 179 operational beds on site.
The development will also expand the existing basement to allow for extra parking, services and facilities. There will 38 parking spaces.
The State Significant Development Application pathway is for senior housing, including aged care, with a capital cost of a minimum of $30 million. There have been 17 successful applications since the initiative started in May 2005.
