Mercy Community takes over Catholic-operated Stella Maris Aged Care Facility in Cronulla, Sydney

The QLD-based Mercy Community, which owns and operates five residential aged care homes in the state, will take over the management of Stella Maris Aged Care Facility in Cronulla, 26km south of Sydney’s CBD.

“We are eager to embark upon this new partnership with the broader Sisters of Mercy family, which we hope will feel like a homecoming for the team and residents of Stella Maris,” Mercy Community CEO Fritha Radyk said.

The three-storey Stella Maris Aged Care Facility opened in 1964 and is owned by the Sisters of Mercy. It has 75 beds and underwent extensive renovations in 2013.

The facility has been managed by St Vincent’s Care Services for the past 12 years and serves the ageing Sisters of the Congregation, family members of the Sisters, friends of Stella Maris, residents of the local area and members of other religious congregations.

“This is a continuation of our strategy of growth in aged care to broaden our Mission of Mercy for older Australians,” Fritha said.

Mercy Community has a team of over 1,500 people providing support through home care, respite care and aged care for tens of thousands of people each year.
