Residents aged 55 and over asked thoughts on affordable housing solutions

1 min read

The City of Casey, which is under administration, has asked residents aged 55 and over living in the outer south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne about affordable housing solutions.

The council has seen a steady increase in people over 55 accessing homelessness services and support and would like to better understand the lived experience of older people concerning affordable, alternative, and appropriate housing, including their opinions on potential housing models.

Residents were encouraged to participate in a 1.5-hour face-to-face group session in either Narre Warren, or Cranbourne West. An online survey is open until Friday 19 April (5pm).

A summary report will be shared and feedback will be collated. The Affordable Housing Strategy was adopted by the City of Casey at its Council meeting on 15 December, 2020.
