The small Hunter Valley aged care facility is on the edge of collapse – bleeding over $1 million a year and facing a grim financial future with no buyers, no funding, and no clear way forward.
The 16-bed facility (pictured above), run by Upper Hunter Shire Council, has become a case study in the near-impossible task of keeping small regional aged care homes afloat.
According to the latest financial reports presented by aged care advisory firm Pride Aged Living at a recent community forum, the home posted a $588,000 loss last year.
