ARQRV receives $139,000 to inform prospective clients of retirement villages

1 min read

Judy Mayfield, President of the Association of Residents of Queensland Retirement Villages (ARQRV), said her organisation has been funded by the Queensland Government to provide advice to prospective clients.

"We have a grant for $139,000 to tell prospective residents about the need to take legal advice on a retirement living or land lease contract,” Judy said.

"We need to ensure prospective residents understand why getting legal advice is so important as there may be things they miss in the contract, such as who pays for maintenance, contents insurance.

"We have been effective in reaching out to residents in villages, with regular Zoom meetings with residents’ committees, and have produced manuals for Village Managers in how to work with residents’ committees."
