Backed by New York-based private equity giant Cerberus Capital Management, Lincoln Place continues to expand its land lease portfolio.

In February, Lincoln Place turned the sod at the 16.3-hectare Lincoln Lifestyle Wangaratta, the first land lease community in the city in the northeast of Victoria, 236km from Melbourne.

Now the operator has held a similar ceremony to begin construction on East Gippsland’s largest masterplanned lifestyle community, which is set to deliver 203 new two- and three-bedroom homes plus a multi-million-dollar investment in sports and recreation amenities in Eagle Point.

East Gippsland Shire Council Mayor Jodie Ashworth joined Lincoln Place Executive General Manager Development Angus Johnson for the milestone sod turn on the 10.2-hectare site.

“The $130 million Lincoln Lifestyle Eagle Point community will deliver contemporary housing and lifestyle options for East Gippsland’s Over 50s population, delivering jobs, investment and housing supply to the Lakes Region,” Angus said.

“Civil works are now underway with local contractor Rowe Constructions, and the first residents are expected to move into their homes in early 2027.”

Lincoln Place says there is a demand for low-maintenance homes with 63% of the population in Eagle Point aged over 50, with East Gippsland experiencing a 29% increase in people aged over 55 in the past 10 years.

“This demand is best reflected in the early sales figures, with nearly 50% of our first home release at Lincoln Lifestyle Eagle Point sold prior to public launch through our Priority Access Club,” added Angus.

The sod turning marked the beginning of five years of staged development, which would also include the creation of the resident clubhouse and wellness centre, featuring a cinema, library, lounge, alfresco dining areas, heated indoor pool, and yoga studio. There will also be a pickleball court, golf simulator and competition-sized bowls green.

The site will be Lincoln Place's eighth land lease community in Victoria.
