Lutheran Services acquires community-owned Cabanda Care
“For Cabanda to grow into the future, we need to partner with an experienced provider to meet future regulatory changes, operational challenges and Board succession plans."
After 38 years being run and operated by community members in Rosewood, a rural town in the City of Ipswich, 43km southwest of Brisbane, the home's ownership is now being transferred.
Cabanda Care will officially transition ownership to Lutheran Services in early 2026.
Cabanda Care has a 52-unit retirement village, a 71-bed residential aged care service, day respite facilities and community programs.
The announcement was made at a series of information sessions with Cabanda Care staff, residents, clients and families today after expressions of interest were sought from a number of leading providers.
“For Cabanda to grow into the future, we need to partner with an experienced provider to meet future regulatory changes, operational challenges and Board succession plans," Chair of the Cabanda Care Board, Tony Lindsay, said.
Lutheran Services CEO, Nick Ryan, said Lutheran Services was looking forward to continuing and expanding on the excellent care provided by Cabanda to residents in Rosewood and surrounds.

“The Cabanda name, heritage and connection with Rosewood will continue and we extend our longstanding commitment to staff development and support to the Cabanda team.”
Lutheran Services is celebrating 90 years of service in Queensland and serves urban, regional and rural communities at 11 aged care sites from Tallebudgera to Biloela.
