The Not For Profit, which provides residential aged care, respite stays, home care, community services, retirement living, affordable housing and disability services, is growing its portfolio.

Chief Executive Officer Anne McCormack announced on Monday that mecwacare has acquired The Schoolhouse Village in Maryborough, 168km northwest of Melbourne.

She said the acquisition strengthened mecwacare’s presence in regional Victoria and increased the retirement living portfolio to 441 homes across seven villages.

The 1880s schoolhouse

“This beautiful village, built around a lovingly restored 1880s schoolhouse, has been family owned for many years. The family recognised the need for retirement living in the area and transformed it into a vibrant, welcoming community with room to grow,” Anne said.

“With our established presence in the Ballarat and Bendigo regions, this acquisition also strengthens our ability to support older people across the wider region. This is an exciting step for mecwacare as we continue to grow with purpose, expanding in rural and regional Victoria so more older Australians can age well in the places they know and love.

“I look forward to meeting the residents, hearing their stories and being part of the next chapter for this wonderful village.”
