Mystery developer lodges $83M plan for 267 affordable seniors’ homes and aged care home on NSW Mid-North Coast – with helipad

A Maroochydore-based developer has put forward plans for a huge seniors’ housing and residential care development in the small rural town of Macksville, 50km south of Coffs Harbour.

Architects DMPS Town Planning and Property Development Services, have lodged the application on the behalf of Congarinni Pty Ltd, to build 276 two- and three-bedroom single-storey homes and a 75-bed two-storey aged care home on a 57.3ha parcel of land at Congarinni North on the outskirts of town.

The plans will also feature a sports centre with an aerobics and weights room, change facilities, physiotherapist room, a 25-metre indoor pool, bowling green and a helipad.

The DA says that the development will help to meet the NSW Government’s aim to provide access to more affordable housing, particularly for older people, people with disabilities and those on low incomes.

“Various policies are promoted by the government to encourage the provision of housing that will increase the supply and diversity of residences that meet the needs of seniors or people with a disability, make efficient use of existing infrastructure and services, and are of good design,” it states.

The proposal will now be considered by the NSW Northern Regional Planning Panel.
