NSW Mid North Coast CEO retiring after a decade
Earlier this year, Sasha told The Weekly SOURCE, care minute targets are failing aged care operators, especially for smaller regional operations like WDRV.
Sasha Andrews, the CEO of Woolgoolga & District Retirement Village (WDRV), a standalone operation on the NSW Mid-North Coast, 550km north of Sydney, has announced she will retire after 10 years in the role.
Not For Profit WDRV was established in 1991, and today has 30 Independent Living Units and a 66-bed residential aged care home. The aged care facility has recently been refurbished, and is asking RADs of up to $480,000.
Earlier this year, Sasha told The Weekly SOURCE, care minute targets are failing aged care operators, especially for smaller regional operations like WDRV. She said the mandatory targets often don’t account for the reality on the ground.
“Regionally, it’s extremely difficult to find enough staff to meet the mandated care minutes,” she said. “In some cases, the CEO is providing direct care, but that care doesn’t count under the current framework. It’s happening, but it’s not recognised.”
Sasha has been instrumental in planning for the expansion of WDRV, with the addition of Callisto Coastal Retirement, a retirement village. According to the WDRV website, the over 55s project remains in the early planning phase.
Prior to commencing at WDRV, Sasha was Managing Director of real estate consultants Callile Investments, where she worked for 11 years, and Director responsible for operations at St Luke’s Care Retirement Villages, for seven years. She also held management positions at Australian Unity Retirement Living Services, where she spent seven years.
Sasha’s retirement takes effect 1 January 2026. Until then, she will be on long-service leave. Interviews are taking place for her replacement.
