The Aware Super-owned retirement village operator has officially broken ground on the final stage of Oak Tree Retirement Village Darling Heights. 

The village of 20 villas in the rural locality, 5km south-southwest of Toowoomba’s CBD, neighbours Oak Tree Retirement Village Toowoomba, which also is in Darling Heights. The Baker Street village comprises 58 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes. 

The ceremony on Monday for an additional 35 villas was attended by Councillor Tim McMahon, Toowoomba Regional Council; Christine Gilroy, CEO of Oak Tree Group; Cameron Goffage, Acting General Manager, Oak Tree Group; the Oak Tree team; Michael McNab, Executive Chairman, McNab; together with residents and local project partners.

The retirement village, when complete, will include a total of 55 two- and three-bedroom villas, alongside shared community amenities including a Village Centre, outdoor swimming pool, bowling green and a shared space for the community to socialise and enjoy. 

The first villas will be available from Q3 2026 with the project completed by Q1 2027. 

This new project complements Oak Tree’s existing development at 134 Baker Street, which comprises 58 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, neighbouring the Platz Street village. 

The total investment of this new stage is over $20 million, bringing the total investment since inception to over $32 million.
