25- and 21-storey ‘vertical’ retirement village going up on the Gold Coast

The $800M Queen Street village development on the site of the former Gold Coast hospital in Southport will house retirement village units over two 25 and 21-storey buildings, while smaller towers, from 12 to 14 levels, will be used for short-term and student accommodation.

Two residential towers of 19 and 17 storeys are also planned for the 32,626sqm site, with almost 1,000 units in total plus a retail precinct, retail complex, cinemas and medical centre.

Brisbane-based developer Property Solutions filed the development application with the Gold Coast Council this month and the Gold Coast Bulletin is reporting it’s likely to be approved given the site falls within the Southport Priority Development Area (PDA).

The Council already gave the green light to dividing the 3.4ha site into three titles in November last year after the property group, which is led by Kevin Miller and David Blanck, bought the land from the QLD Govt in 2015.
