Victoria saw 28 new cases reported on Tuesday, a slight increase on Monday’s total of 11.
This brought the number of active cases to 620, with 328 (53%) linked to aged care.
The 14-day rolling average dropped to 32.8, down from 34.4 on Monday.
The state recorded three deaths, all linked to aged care.
These include three women, aged in their 70s, 90s and 100s.
This brings Victoria’s death toll to 766.
The major aged care outbreaks include:
- 255 cases linked to BaptCare Wyndham Lodge Community in Werribee (1 less case since Monday last week)
- 219 cases linked to Epping Gardens Aged Care in Epping (no new cases since Thursday last week)
- 216 cases linked to St Basil’s Homes for the Aged (1 new case)
- 166 cases linked to Estia Aged Care Facility in Ardeer (no new cases since Monday last week)
- 140 cases linked to Kirkbrae Presbyterian Homes in Kilsyth (no new cases since Thursday last week)
- 131 cases have been linked to BlueCross Ruckers Hill Aged Care Facility in Northcote (1 new case since Friday last week)
- 128 cases linked to Twin Parks Aged Care in Reservoir (no new cases since Thursday last week)
- 124 cases linked to Cumberland Manor Aged Care Facility in Sunshine North (no new cases since Monday last week)
- 122 cases linked to Japara Goonawarra Aged Care Facility in Sunbury (1 new case since Tuesday)
Victoria has 83 people in hospital with COVID, including eight in intensive care.
Premier Andrews: “I’m not looking to impress people”
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews fronted the press in his daily briefing, where he was asked if there was an element of pride stopping him from lifting restrictions early.
“I'm not looking to impress people. I'm looking to get the job done,” he said.
“And this is not a matter of pride, it's a matter of science.”
“And the data, the evidence, the science and the doctors tell us, and I think to be honest common sense tells you, that unless you get the numbers low, you can't hope to keep the numbers low.”
