The local Georges River Council wants to rezone the 1.1ha bowling green at the former Oatley Bowling Club, 18km south of the CBD, to allow for a 70- to 80-bed aged care facility and a recreation space to be built.

Their report says nearly 90% (51) of the nearby aged care facilities are outside the immediate area while those that are closer are either dated or only cater to a specific cultural or social group.
