Anglicare staff member and resident diagnosed with COVID-19 – all staff wearing full PPE and specially trained staff deployed

The staff member at its Newmarch House aged care home in Kingswood, 45km west of the Sydney CBD, tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, with a resident tested on Friday, 10 April also returning a positive result on Sunday.

Another resident is also awaiting test results.

Anglicare tells us that all residents in the home are now isolated in their rooms with all staff directed to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when caring for residents.

Staff who have been in close contact with either the staff member or the resident are now self-isolating at home and will be tested if they show symptoms.

Anglicare says they are also deploying staff specially trained in working with COVID-19 to work with the infected resident.

They are also working with NSW Health to identify any further cases.

The Not For Profit locked down its homes three weeks ago on Monday 23 March – as we reported here last week, they have had one positive case of COID-19 in their St Lukes retirement village in Dapto after a resident returned from an overseas trip.
