Arcare plans expansion into ACT

Two new Arcare aged care homes have been proposed for the ACT, with parent company Knowles Group unveiling plans for sites in Aranda and Wright.

The Aranda site would house 120 beds across two storeys, while the home at Wright (pictured above) is planned to house 98 beds across two and a half storeys; each home also has a basement and on-site parking, as well as an internal courtyard.

Michael Carnell, Property Chief Executive at Knowles Group (pictured), said in a statement that Arcare was pleased to be expanding into the ACT so that “people have the opportunity to stay in their local area”.

“We are aware from research that there is a shortage of retirement and aged care options for our seniors in the ACT, meaning it is either unavailable within an acceptable timeframe or requires people to move a substantial distance away from community and family support networks,” he said.

Arcare is also partnering with Lendlease for another ACT aged care home at the Gold Creek Homestead site in Gungahlin north of Canberra.
