Australian Unity’s Walmsley RAC in Kilsyth, VIC, slated for November opening

Australian Unity is set to open its new Walmsley Aged Care facility in the eastern Melbourne suburb of Kilsyth this November.

A job listing for the 120-bed residential home – which was announced last April – says the new Walmsley RAC will have “state-of-the-art facilities” including café, private dining, rehabilitation gym, hair and beauty salon, and “small household living arrangements consisting of 16 to 19 residents”; additionally, it will be run using Australian Unity’s “Better Together” model.

“Our Better Together model focuses on providing the best care to our residents and work life balance for our staff. We ensure that residents will truly be able to partner with teams to create their own care plans, schedules and ensure that they are living their lives the way that they want to.

“With the Better Together model and its purpose, the facility will not just be an Aged Care Facility, it will be the residents’ home,” the provider said.

Each of the 120 rooms – comprising 84 standard rooms, 18 memory support rooms and 18 deluxe queen rooms – will come with its own ensuite, with rooms divided into seven “households” of 13 to 19 rooms over two levels.
