The Not For Profit’s Willandra Village in Macquarie Park, 13km northwest of Sydney’s CBD, is set for a major redevelopment.

BaptistCare NSW & ACT has announced that it plans to turn the 3.5ha site into a mixed-use precinct from 2025.

“BaptistCare NSW & ACT is progressing with plans for the future renewal of its Macquarie Park site, including the construction of a vertical village at the northern edge of the current Willandra Village,” said a spokeswoman.

“Current residents of Willandra Village were recently provided with information including the confirmed location of the new vertical village and advice on the difficult decision to relocate all village residents off-site over the next three years.”

The site will not be the operator’s first vertical village – it also has a vertical aged care and retirement community The Gracewood, at Kellyville, 36km northwest of Sydney’s CBD.

“We have told residents at the earliest opportunity about the need to move to new accommodation over the next three years, so that together with each resident we can plan, without time pressure, and support residents to find alternative accommodation that best suits their needs into the future,” said the spokeswoman.

“No resident will be without a home, and BaptistCare is committed to working alongside each resident to find a new home and helping them to relocate before construction of the new village commences in 2025.

“BaptistCare will work closely with each resident and will be doing everything we can to make this as easy as possible for residents, including covering reasonable relocation costs and the cost of removalists.”

The vertical village forms the first part of a Master Plan that will see the site become a mixed-use precinct.

“While we are still in the planning phase of the Master Plan, the current proposed design will include a range of land uses including seniors housing, residential and mixed uses like retail, student accommodation and a school,” added the spokeswoman.
