Contract signed for Lendlease village redevelopment of heritage-listed Gold Creek Homestead north of Canberra

The ACT Government has announced that talks with Lendlease have led to a signed contract for the redevelopment of the heritage-listed Gold Creek Homestead in Gungahlin, 13km north of Canberra.

The redevelopment will deliver 45 independent living units and a residential aged care facility. In addition, the original Gold Creek Homestead, Stone Hut Kitchen and Slab Hut will be conserved and restored. This includes surrounding gardens with a focus on opening it to the wider community for use.

Lendlease were declared winners of the tender in March 2021, The Source reported.

“The Lendlease tender concept best captured the place and community values of the historic site. It will ensure Gold Creek Homestead’s preservation in the future and is the exciting start into the next chapter of its history,” ACT Minister for Housing and Suburban Development, Yvette Berry said.

Future uses and potential tenants will be decided after ongoing community engagement. A public walking and cycling link through the site will connect to the historic Homestead precinct.

“Our intention is to retain, restore and activate the original Gold Creek Homestead and ensure the design of the precinct respects its rich heritage,” said Arabella Rohde, Senior Development Manager, Lendlease Retirement Living.
