The Central Coast Council has put forward a submission supporting the Save Woy Woy Waterfront group’s campaign to stop the four-storey, 63-unit development above the Woy Woy bowling club Sporties, which is currently before the Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP), saying the plan contravenes the local environment plan and maximum building height of 12.5 metres.

The residents’ group has been lobbying hard against the development because of its size and the loss of recreational space.

However, the Club’s owner Tony Altavilla says the redevelopment is the only solution to save the club. While the land is zoned recreational, seniors living can be built on a licensed club facility under the State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP) – a loophole that the group says is being exploited.
