Croatia: Dubrovnik to build its first aged care home in 30 years – price tag $215M

Mayor Mato Franković has signed a contract for the 200-bed home which will be built at the Dubrovnik General Hospital – a site which has been in the planning by the local Council for almost 30 years.

Covering 11,000 sqm, the home will be designed to offer hotel-like accommodation with a restaurant, physical therapy, library, coffee bar and roof gardens and terraces with sunbathing areas set over three pavilions with construction to start in 2021.

It won’t come cheap though, with estimates putting the cost at between AUD$215 million and $260 million.

The luxury home will also soon have more competition – the Council has also announced another aged care home will be built in an existing hotel next year.
