GPs to be open 8am to 8pm x 7 days to service elderly

To combat the pressure of their ageing population on hospitals and medical services, the UK government is committing $725M to provide better access to GPs. They are also funding plus pro active care plans to people aged 75+. GPs will be subsidised to open 12 hours a day, from 8 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week. Government is also subsidising phone and Skype consultations. The objective is to ‘head off problems’ before they get too big, preventing people going to hospital.
