HammondCare gets green light for $141M integrated health campus with 89 serviced apartments on Sydney’s North Shore

The Not For Profit will have further opportunities to fulfil its mission after securing Independent Planning Commission approval for a $141.5 million integrated health campus featuring a subacute hospital to replace the ageing Greenwich Hospital, 4km north of the Sydney CBD.

In a first for NSW, the Greenwich Health Campus will feature up to 89 serviced seniors living apartments that will be set up for 24/7 care as well as offer specialised health services for seniors and others with complex health needs including palliative care, rehabilitation, dementia care and treatment for mental health.

The 3.6ha site will also include a 150-place hospital and health care facility with a mix of inpatient beds and residential aged care beds, including dementia care plus an aged care home purpose-built for people with dementia.

Other services to be offered at the campus will include HammondCare At Home (in-home care for seniors) and the research and education functions of its Dementia Centre, The Palliative Centre and The Centre for Positive Ageing.

Depending on final planning approval, staged construction of the campus could start in mid-2022 with completion expected in 2027.
