HammondCare takes out NSW Best Aged Care Building Award for Sydney dementia village

The Not For Profit was awarded the honour at the Master Builders Association Awards for its four-storey Wahroonga aged care home on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, 22km northwest of the CBD.

The Jackson Teece-designed facility, which caters for 57 residents, incorporates HammondCare’s model of dementia ‘sub-villages’ and was designed by Jackson Teece and was a collaborative effort between builders Stephen Edwards Constructions and the HammondCare capital works team.

“The result is a building that has been designed with access to outdoors via terraces and balconies, lots of natural light and an easy-to-navigate design,” Acting General Manager of Property and Capital Works, Seamus van der Westhuizen, said.
