Head of Victorian Aged Care Response Centre to depart

Victorian Aged Care Response Centre chief Joe Buffone is set to move to a new role.

Fairfax reports the former Country Fire Authority chief will be headed to Canberra to lead the Home Affairs Department’s crisis preparation for the summer bushfire season.

This comes as Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews flagged a winding back of the state’s crisis response to aged care outbreaks over the weekend.

The Fairfax report cited an unnamed spokeswoman for the Victoria Aged Care Response Centre, who said the operation was, “moving into a new phase of the COVID response,” but would remain, “as long as required”.

Mr Buffone’s replacement will be appointed by the Federal Health Department.
