Home care providers: expect a call from the Quality and Safety Commission to check on your COVID-19 preparation

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) will be calling all approved providers early this month for a 10-minute phone call to discuss their responsibilities under the Aged Care Quality Standards – specifically infection control.

The Department of Health stresses that the call is not an assessment of performance against the Standards – and if you are busy, arrangements will be made to call back.

The issue of infection control for home care staff visiting clients in the community has been a particular issue for providers with some reporting shortages of PPE and hand sanitiser.

We imagine this call will include a check on supplies and how providers are sourcing these items.
