Legacy NSW has received development approval for a new seven-storey affordable retirement village at Brisbane Water, on the NSW Central Coast.
The existing village at the site has been in operation since 1964, and Peter Lawley (pictured), CEO of Brisbane Water NSW Legacy, told Coast and Community News it was overdue for an upgrade.
“It provides affordable rental units for war widows and veterans along with retirement village units that are also available to retirees with a focus on veterans and war widows. “Redevelopment became necessary due to the age and style of the current units,” he said.
The new development, to be funded completely by Legacy, will comprise 54 units across seven floors, as well as a community centre, above-ground parking, Legacy offices, and a park/garden area.
Existing residents will be moved off-site during construction, and will be given apartments in the new building once it is complete.
