The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) approved the Strategy in August and proposes seven key outcomes be up-and-running by 2022 including:
- Health information that is available whenever and wherever it is needed.
- Health information that can be exchanged securely.
- Better availability and access to prescriptions and medicines information.
- A workforce confidently using digital technologies to deliver health and care.
ACSA, which represents the sector on the Australian Digital Health Agency Medicines Safety Program Steering Group, says a framework to decide on an implementation is now due by the end of the year.
