New $37M aged care facility proposed for Blue Mountains

A development application from Pathways Residences will see a $37 million rejuvenation of the old Ritz Estate at Leura, NSW, into a new aged care residence.

The facility, to be called Pathways Leura Village, will see the site – which was once a hotel, then operated as a 150-bed aged care home from 1970 to 2018 – reopen with 137 beds. The main Ritz building will be restored and two new wings added, with the facility also set to encompass the old Managers Residence as a wellness centre.

Pathways Leura Village will follow the “small housing model” recommended in the Royal Commission, with six to ten resident rooms around their own living and dining areas; it will also incorporate on-site basement car parking and a ground floor café.

The DA will soon be open for public exhibition and comment.
