Nicola Roxon has been a member of Federal Parliament for nine years. She was
elected at age 31 and is now 40. She represents the Melbourne western suburbs
seat of Gellibrand. She has worked as an industrial lawyer, union organiser and
judges associate to Justice Mary Gaudron in the High Court of Australia. In her
nine years in Parliament she has had five portfolios: Shadow Minister for Children
and Youth, Shadow Minister Assisting the Leader on the Status of Women,
Shadow Minister for Immigration, and Shadow Attorney-General. She has been
Shadow Minister for Health since December last year (2006).
