Operators – and Governments – lawyer up at the Royal Commission

It has not been unusual for one and occasionally two lawyers supporting clients to attend the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, but yesterday was a whole new level.

Monday through Wednesday is investigating the initial COVID outbreaks in Sydney across BaptistCare’s Dorothy Henderson Lodge, Anglicare’s Newmarch House and Opal in Bankstown.

Approximately six lawyers were in attendance, despite the Commissioners saying yesterday was a day to learn lessons, not apportion blame.

They represented Anglicare, the NSW Government, the Victorian Government, the Commonwealth and even Mable.
