Population growth slows and in wrong places for retirement village sector

If selling the family home is key to new residents for retirement villages, the population growth trend is not good – except in WA and the ACT. In 2010:
• ?Australia’s population grew 1.5% to 22, 477,400
• ?This is 30% down on the peak 2.2% in 2008
• ?Births were steady, more died, international students crashed
• ?Immigration is steady at 170,000pa
• ?WA grew 2.1% and ACT 2%.
• ?QLD grew 1.7% (including 35,419 from NSW)
• ?VIC grew 1.6%. NSW grew 1.2%
• ?Both parties support 1.5% annual growth to 35 million by 2030
