Out of the ordinary
QLD retirement village resident bitten by tiger snake – after picking it up

Michael Neumann (pictured), 83, a resident at Fraser Shores retirement village in Hervey Bay, 290km north of Brisbane, was bitten by the baby snake at the back of his unit after he picked the 15-inch reptile up by the head to throw it over the fence into bushland.

“When I grabbed it, I probably didn't grab it high enough because the snake turned its head and bit me,” he told Seniors News.

Mr Neumann stayed in hospital overnight as a precaution and says he won’t be grabbing any snake heads again.
