Queensland Parliamentary Review Committee tables Retirement Village Act report - places controversial recommendations on hold

One of the first acts the Campbell Newman government was to announce a Parliamentary Review of the Retirement Village Act. The committee made 37 recommendations but when the report was tabled this week in Parliament it supported the immediate implementation of just 12.

The balance was referred to ‘discussion and further consultation’ and interestingly the balance were the more controversial recommendations, according to Carne Reidy Herd Lawyers. The recommendations in effect could be described as inconsequential. No dates have been set for the ‘discussions’.
