Demand is high for Reside Communities’ luxurious new waterfront retirement village on Hope Island in Queensland's Gold Coast.
“More than 30 per cent of stage one has been secured through expressions of interest, indicating how well Esperance has resonated with downsizers," said Reside Communities CEO Glen Brown (pictured above).
“Esperance will also help to address an undersupply of quality residential options for retirees on the coast, with many of our buyers local and keen to stay within the area they know and love."
The official sod-turning ceremony was on 30 April when Mr Brown and some of the first residents checked out the vista aboard an eight-storey high cherry picker.
“Taking in sweeping views over the water, Hope Island Golf Course and across the Coast, the ambience from the apartments in the first of Esperance’s four buildings - Esprit - will be seriously hard to match,” said Reside Communities on its website.
The first stage will feature 76 apartments ranging from spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom residences to spectacular three-bedroom penthouses with sweeping water and island views. Prices start at $550,000.
The vertical community, which will also include more than one hectare of green space and a boardwalk running the full length of the village's canal frontage, is being built in five stages.
Reside Communities chief executive Glen Brown said the first stage was already attracting strong interest from local retirees.
For downsizers Phil and Di Bartlett, it gave them a first-hand experience of the scenery they will soon be enjoying every day from their new apartment.
Among the first buyers, they wanted to take full advantage of the outlook over the water.
“We always wanted an apartment with a view,” said Mr Bartlett, a former South Australian dairy farmer who has spent most of life on a family property overlooking the Murray River.
“It’s one of the things that attracted us to Esperance, along with its convenience to everything. It’s close to beautiful golf facilities and all amenities are within walking distance.”
