Shepparton to build new VIC Govt-funded social housing for seniors

The Victorian Government has unveiled plans to build new social housing and aged care for over-55s in Shepparton (pictured), in the state’s north.

Part of a $37.5 million housing investment by the Government in the Shepparton region expected to deliver around 130 homes, the development will comprise 28 new one-bedroom homes for seniors, as well as 20 residential aged care units.

According to Victorian Minister for Housing Danny Pearson (pictured), this development – in partnership with Wintringham – will provide safe and secure housing to those who need it.

“We are serious about creating more social housing for those most in need, which is why we have made a landmark investment to address this problem.

“These developments will not only create much needed housing, but also create jobs and help stimulate the economy locally,” he said.

Also coming to Shepparton as part of the Government-funded housing investments is a 16-dwelling supported housing development for those living with mental illness.
